Daniel Allan did not take the easy route to his career in electronic music, to say the least. He recorded rappers in his middle school closet, terminated a promising D1 tennis career at Boston University after a single season, spent three summers couch-surfing in LA and lived in a trailer to make ends meet.
So when the versatile producer’s breakthrough single ‘I Just Need’ dropped, it carried with it the profound weight of someone who genuinely deserved it. The industry agreed as UTA signed him for bookings, Louis The Child and Big Gigantic came calling for collaborations, and major festivals like Bonnaroo and Ultra pencilled him into their 2026 lineups.
The electronic dance music industry has a long history of chewing up idealists, and Allan is responding by blossoming into one of its better success stories. Turns out, the closet studio was always just the first room in a much larger house.
